The University of Texas Institute for Geophysics invites applications for a postdoctoral position at the Ocean and Earth Electrometric laboratory (OCEEMlab). Successful applicants will have expertise in: marine EM methods, seagoing research, and controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) deep/shallow-towed streamer data analysis. UTIG is one of three research units at The University of Texas at Austin Jackson School of Geosciences. Scientists and students at UTIG conduct expeditionary research in Earth science in all parts of the world and are also involved in planetary missions and climate modeling.
About the Position
The candidate will join UTIG’s new Ocean and Earth Electrometric laboratory, which launched in October 2022. OCEEMlab studies a broad spectrum of upper mantle-to-crust mechanisms and lithosphere-biosphere interactions. OCEEMlab scientists are committed to groundbreaking interdisciplinary science while promoting education, diversity, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
Plan, participate, and co-lead marine EM seagoing expeditions.
Survey design and execution.
Process and model marine MT/CSEM data.
Contribute to developing/writing new research proposals.
Support OCEEMlab’s diverse group of undergraduate, graduate students, and postdocs, working on various research topics associated with geohazards and resources.
